I told myself that I'd make one of these art threads when I actually made something good enough to grace this site, but I still haven't gotten round to finishing anything that I start. So, I figured I may as well just put up whatever I can find that I have floating around.
This is designs for an idea I got for madness day. ![]() If you don't pay too much attention, then you don't see how aweful the proportion on this is. ![]() These are from late last year and I think you lot would agree that its shocking to see how much you can improve in such a short time. |

Nice additions, I see the improvement between both sketches.
From what I can tell, the second sketch is inked as well? Looks like it is in the image at least . And yeah, I can see where some of the proportions are a tad bit off, but even so, I'm sure everyone would agree that we all struggle with them.Just in case you are uncertain, What makes a good portion of the second's proportions slightly off is the length of the upper arm with relation to the torso, particularly his left (from the character's perspective) upper arm. Generally, it extends down to the navel (Where the elbow is) but due to the perspective, I'm guessing that his arm is slightly forward (since he's resting his hand somewhat on the table)? If that's the case, then the proportion isn't really off, but the foreshortening is slightly off . To fix this, you'd increase the size as the object comes towards the camera, and decrease the size as it goes away from it. An example of this effect is easy to notice if you use something like a camera or webcam and thrust your arm out towards the lens.Anyways, my 2 cents on it , not sure if you were wanting a small critique though .Looking forward to your next ones!

hehe this should start at a much deeper level then what your doing right now.
then these problems wont be as. blatantly obvious. i doubt youll respond to this so ill just leave it as that instead of informing you of what you should be doing. |

Thanks for the comments guys.
It's funny you should say that, because I'm pretty sure those were drawn within a month of each other. It's just the the first was more of a quick sketch. And yeah, that was my first attempt at inking. Quote:
Anyways, here's a Christmas present I made for my (now ex) girlfriend last year. My first completed attempt at painting in photoshop. I fairly satisfied considering I having had much experience with painting in photoshop or photoshop and/or painting in general. I didn't bother with a background or specific light source. ![]() I am a bit ashamed however, of my overuse of this reference. |
